Sunday 25th September – 10.45am – Stunning views across Sussex Countryside to the South Downs – undulating hilly FUN Run / walk, limit 50 spaces!

Choose approximately 5 km, 7.5 km, 10 km, 12.5 km, 15km, 17.5km or 20km (fun run up to a half marathon) but don’t be fooled by the distance! It’s all off road, mostly on firm grass / mud / stony walking tracks. Wear suitable exercise clothing, sturdy road trainers or cross country / off road trail trainers (no spikes allowed). One very short section might have a few shallow muddy puddles. Founded in 2015 and is run twice a year in May and September.

It’s a challenging and enjoyable route that you can complete 2-8 times to suit your own fitness levels and there’s no shame if you need to (briskly) walk up some of the hills if you get ‘jelly legs’ but there’s plenty of flat and downhill to let your legs recover too!

If for example, you were originally aiming for 4 laps but only want to complete 3 that’s fine just let the official timekeeper know and they’ll write down your finish time. Times will be posted on our social media websites (Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, Google+) and via e-mail 48 hours after the event.

We’ll meet, start and finish at the mill next to the wine lodge and there will be a health & safety and route description at 10.40am. Please be quiet and listen in and jog on the spot to keep yourself warm.

The race starts prompt at 10.45am – please arrive no later than 20 minutes before the start so you have plenty of time to get and fit your race bib number to your top and get your whereabouts. We will hand them out along with safety pins near the start point (just ask a member of the team wearing a high visibility jacket / Get Fit Boot Camp t-shirt).

Parking / Postcode:
Please SatNav to RH20 2HH and park in the free car park above the windmill. Try to carshare where possible or cycle if you can. Nutbourne Vineyards, GAY STREET, Nr. Pulborough, West Sussex, RH20 2HH. The entrance has 2 x BLUE Nutbourne Vineyards SIGNS, as you enter follow it to the left through the gates then along past the mill (to read their full description and to view on a map please visit their website www.nutbournevineyards.com).

Parking opens at 10am – a good time to aim for is 10.10am – refreshments for spectators start after the race commences – bib race numbers will be handed out from 10.15am onwards.

Toilets:
There are permanent indoor male and female toilets located to the left of the wine distillery.

Changing Rooms:
There are no changing facilities available but you could use the toilets.

Hot Food / Drinks:
Participants will receive 1 x glass of wine (plus a hot drink) and a selection of lovely cakes when they finish and also the chance to do a wine tasting!

For spectators they can watch from the scenic and sheltered wine lodge and purchase: £3 for cake and a hot drink / £3 for a wine (£6 for a glass of wine, hot drink and cake)

Some people might also want to purchase a bottle of wine (or two!) before they depart as their wines (some international gold award winning) aren’t available in the shops. For people wanting hot food there are several local pubs such as The Rising Sun Nutbourne, The Queens Head West Chiltington, The Roundabout Hotel West Chiltington, The Blacksmiths Arms Adversane…

Free Photos:
At the turnaround point there will be 1 photographer and we’ll upload the photos to a public photo album (flickr) 48 hours after the event finishes and you can download any that you want full size for free 🙂 You can few previous race photo albums on our Facebook page.

Medal:
There will be a medal waiting for you when you’ve finished. The finish line and extra laps are at the same point so when you have told the timekeeper that you’ve finished walk towards the wine lodge and someone will give you your medal and a bottle of water (well done!)

Free Bits:
Medal, 1 x 500 ml bottle of water, water at the water station (but as it’s a multiple lap event you could leave your own drink bottle / labelled lucozade on the table if you want to), 1 x glass of wine or tea/coffee and free photos for just £18 and a finish time. The free fitness GPS app Strava will give you lots of splits and segments information.

First Aid / Weather / Your Personal Safety / Water Stops:
There will be 1-2 first aiders dotted around the course with a first aid kit and they will have mobile phones with them just in case the emergency services are required. Lots of people go walking, running and mountain biking around the route throughout the year. Please stay focused and keep an eye out on the floor for any rabbit holes, narrow points etc. The event will take part during any weather (except for deep snow!). Water stop every 2.5 km lap (plastic cups of water or you can use your own bottle).

There are 3 x public footpath stiles to climb over during one lap. By the time you get to the first stile you should be well spread out but please take it in turns sensibly to climb over the stiles.

Age Limit / Time Limit
All participants need to be 18 years+. Please have a look over your shoulder every now and again and allow faster runners to overtake. There is a 2 hour time limit cut off. You can still complete more laps but you may not receive an official finish time. The timekeeper will tell you when 95 minutes has passed and you can decide whether you can fit one more lap in.

Withdrawals, Transfers and Cancellations
From the moment we begin to organise an event, we start to incur costs.  Your entry fee is invested into the cost of staging the event – everything from hiring the land to safety pins, PayPal fees, baking cakes, from race numbers to marketing and growing grapes!  Organising any event requires a considerable amount of forward planning, risk and expense.  For this reason we are not able to refund or transfer your entry to another event – also £6 of your entrance fee goes to a worthy charity.

However, in the event you are not able to run / walk, if you can find a replacement, your place may be transferred.  Please contact Rob at info@getfitbootcamp.co.uk with any changes.

The deadline for any changes is Friday 23rd September.  Most race directors will charge an administration fee for this service, we do not.  Please do not run / walk with someone else’s number, you will not be covered under our insurance and in the event of you becoming unwell out on the course, we will not have any contact details for you or your family (google Pulborough, West Sussex 5 km 10 km 15km 20km half marathon).

If the Get Fit Boot Camp Cross Country Race cannot go ahead, for whatever reason, we will endeavour to contact you via email.  All updates will be posted on the front page of the event website.  Runners will be given the option of transferring their entry to a revised date, (if rescheduled) or another one of our events specified.

Valuables / Key Drop
Please try to put your car key in a secure running top / running shorts or trousers zip pocket but if you can’t we will have a key bag drop person looking after them (Get Fit Boot Camp does not accept any responsibility for your valuables).
